LIGHT THERAPY TEST TO TREAT CHRONIC PAIN AND INSOMNIA

German doctors are hoping to shed new light on the treatment of chronic pain. Prof Thomas Tolle, a pain specialist in Munich, is beginning a trial using specially designed overhead lighting, which imitates the blue light of a summer sky.

Chronic pain is a huge problem worldwide, with over 14 million sufferers in the UK alone, according to the Chronic Pain Policy Coalition (CPPC). Chronic pain defined as pain that persists beyond the normal time for healing, or that occurs in diseases such as fibromyalgia.
