Learn to play an instrument to keep your brain sharp
Forget about brain training, new research has shown that learning to play a musical instrument could help to protect against mental decline. Researchers at St Andrews University found that musical activity could be used as an effective intervention to slow, stop or even reverse age or illness-related decline in mental functioning.
Dr Jentzsch said: “Musical activity cannot only immensely enrich our lives but the associated benefits for our physical and mental functioning could be even more far-reaching than proposed in our previous research.”
