Forget carrots - eating oranges could protect your eyesight

Pensioners could improve their eyesight simply by eating oranges, a study suggests. Experts found elderly people who ate fruit and vegetables high in vitamin C were a third less likely to develop cataracts. Foods rich in the nutrient include oranges, red and green peppers, strawberries, broccoli, and potatoes. The study published in the journal Ophthalmology looked at the progression of cataracts in the eyes of 324 pairs of female twins, mainly in their 60s, over 10 years.
