ARE YOU TIRED of feeling frustrated, irritated or embarrassed at the frequency you need to go to the toilet?

Or perhaps you can’t even make it to the bathroom in time? Why do you need to keep going to the loo? You could have a condition known as ‘overactive bladder’.

An overactive bladder is a condition where the bladder muscles contract involuntarily when filling with urine. The muscle contractions are often without any warning and someone with an overactive bladder cannot control these muscle contractions. The result is an involuntary loss of urine.

What can be done to help treat my overactive bladder

There are...

A new Italian study has shown that people low in Vitamin D are 32% more likely to suffer with coronary heart disease. Your body manufactures Vitamin D when sunlight falls on your skin, but you can also top up your levels with a dietary supplement. Experts have advised caution following the study because of the risks posed by sunbathing.

Alzheimer's disease could one day be diagnosed by using a simple eye test.
The disease is thought to kill the cells in your eyes at the same time as it kills off the cells in your brain. This means it may eventually be possible to spot dementia early by using an easy and inexpensive test, performed at your local optician’s.
Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia affect more than 800,000 people in the UK alone and the number is expected to double within a generation as the population ages.

Fluoride is added to tap water in many regions in the UK to help cut the number of cases of tooth decay. However, some experts are worried that it could have unforseen consequences. Philippe Grandjean, professor of environmental health at Harvard University, said “We recommend further research to clarify what role fluoride exposure levels may play in possible adverse effects on brain development, so that future risk assessments can properly take into regard this possible hazard”.

Young women who eat a healthy diet are less likely to develop clogged arteries, which can lead to heart attacks or stroke.
However the same benefit does not apply to men - and scientists don't know why, saying the phenomenon 'needs more investigation'.

Don't let anyone tell you that loosing your hair is just a natural part of growing older. Or that it doesn't matter and you can't do anything about it because it's all down to your genes.

How many times have you heard ‘if anyone’s bald in your family you’ve got no chance of keeping your hair!’ That’s partially true, male pattern baldness can be hereditary and ageing also has an effect on your once ‘thick thatch’. But unless someone has experienced the feeling of disappointment and inadequacy caused by hair loss, they can’t possibly understand how devastating going bald can be...
